Bring Your Group Together on Alcatraz Island
Step beyond the everyday and into an unforgettable experience with Alcatraz City Cruises, the official concessioner of the National Park Service. A group visit transforms a day out into a shared adventure, immersing your members in the Island’s many layers—from its origins as a military fortress (1854–1933) and its infamous years as a federal penitentiary (1934–1963), to its powerful role in the American Indian Occupation for self-determination (1969–1971).
But Alcatraz is more than a prison—it’s a place of connection. Your group will discover dramatic history, striking natural beauty in the heart of San Francisco Bay, and a cultural icon that has inspired countless books and films. These moments spark conversation, curiosity, and camaraderie.
Community groups come in all shapes and sizes—scouts, marching bands, corporate teams, church groups, sports teams, social clubs, and more. Whether you’re bonding over shared history, seeking inspiration, or simply enjoying a day together, Alcatraz City Cruises offers experiences to match your group’s goals.
Explore ranger-led programs, interpretive exhibits, and engaging audio tours that bring the Island’s stories to life. Stroll historic grounds, take in panoramic views, and share discoveries that make the day unforgettable.
If you’re bringing 20 or more people, you must request permission in advance. For youth groups, one adult leader (age 21+) is required for every nine youths under 18.
